Happy Thanksgiving!

We're a fairly traditional family when it comes to holidays. While many we know are going away from the traditional Thanksgiving Dinner fare and experimenting with Mexican and Italian, we get very excited about our once-a-year-date with a large fowl, and the accompanying sides. This year, the 5 of us are at home by ourselves. I was very afraid of making way too much food, so I had each one of us pick our one favorite Thanksgiving dish. The turkey and rolls were non-negotiable, so the list started after those two.

Heathen number 3 chose deviled eggs. Heathen number 2 chose pumpkin pie. Heathen number 1 chose Broccoli, Rice and Cheese Casserole. I chose my mother's dressing. The CyberChaun chose mashed potatoes. So, there was our Thanksgiving menu. It came out very well!

I had a 21 pound bird (because that's all that was left at the store - I was aiming more in the 10-12 pound range, but oh well......we'll be eating turkey until Christmas.....)so we were looking at about a 5 hour roast. I planned to eat at around 4pm. But - I wasn't in the mood to stress, so whenever we ate - that was fine. So I just basically got the turkey in the oven at 10, then did what I felt like doing until after noon. Then I had the kids do as much of the preparation of their chosen dishes as they were capable of doing. I assembled my stuff, threw it all in the oven together when the turkey came out. Guess what time it was when the meal hit the table.........

It was 4pm on the NOSE. I'm just that good, yeah.........

Heathen Numero UNO

I just realized a never posted the massive number of pictures I have of Heathen Number One! So, without further ado, let the adoration begin:

I will have more pics of all the heathens soon!

Pain is Not My Friend

I know it's been a while, and I should be ashamed. I thought I'd just poke my head and say HI! I've been dealing with a VERY achey tooth, and will be visiting a dentist on Thursday. In the meantime, it's just very difficult to focus through all the fuzz in my brain.........so I'll try and pop back in afterwards and post something maybe slightly coherent.......

Starting Something New

Well, life has been very busy. Of course, the kids started back to school. Heathen number 1 is in High School now......O.O

Here are some first-day-of-school pics (that's a lie - it was the second day of school.....):

I'm playing around with picture placement - can't seem to get it to do what I want. Oh well.......

So, anyway, school has started. I have been working on my application to go back to college. The economy has hit us HARD, and we are very short on funds, so I've also decided to start an Etsy store, so I've been working on that. That's been taking a lot of my time. BUT - once I have the store set up (I've registered, but I've got to get all my ducks in a row before placing my first listing), I'll be posting it on here!

Today, I have made a hearty breakfast for the family. Breakfast burritos - homemade.....except for the tortillas - I'm not THAT good :P. After that we'll be dropping Heathen Number One off at play practice, then the rest of us are heading out of town to visit with the CyberChaun's daddy.

So, busy day ahead, I've finished my breakfast burrito - time to get busy!

Back to School....Maybe.....

I got up yesterday morning (earlier than I would have liked) and went to a pre-admissions advisory counseling meeting (that's a mouthful!) at University of Texas at Dallas (UTD). My transcripts from Kansas State University (KState) were perused, and most credits transfer. I did not yet have my transcripts from Howard Payne University (HPU). I have it now, and I think all but about 15 hours should also transfer, leaving me with approximately 80 hours transferring! Which means 2, maybe 3 semesters of college to finish my degree!

It's too late to enter for the fall, so I"ll be applying for the Spring Semester. I will need to do a lot of research into scholarships and grants, because it will cost me approximately $6,000 per semester!

But, I'm excited. I really am!

Putting Things Off and Getting Others Done

I know - I need to put up pictures of heathen number 1. But I have entirely too many things to get done! I have to finish inventorying the used uniforms for the PTA, I need to do some office work for one of my employers. I have to actually show up at work for my other employer, and I have to clean my house! And feed my kids - they' are AWLAYS wanting to be fed........

Anyway, there are more things to do as well. I have found myself double-booking my time, and that's got to stop! I realized the other day that I had scheduled a pre-admission advisement appointment to college the same day and time as a doctor's appointment for Heathen number 1. Gonna have to re-schedule one of them.

What's this ab out pre-admissions, you ask? Well, because my life isn't busy enough, I need to raise the level of difficulty. I have decided to attempt to go back to school! This is long over-due to be honest. I had gone straight to college when CyberChaun and I married, and I took a couple-semester break when pregnant with Heathen number 1. Went back and stayed until pregnant with Heathen number 2. Then I just sort of gave up. The kids and the CyberChaun needed me at home. But now the kids are much older, and I think that I should finish. 1) because I'm paying for these student loans, so I should have SOMETHING to show for them! and 2) because I have been reminded lately that I have gifts and talents and need to be using them more. So, I called the University and put things into motion. I have requested my transcripts from my last University, they should be faxed to me in the next week. I have scheduled the pre-admit advisory meeting so they can tell me the gory details of what credits will and will not transfer. So, after that - depending on how much I have left and how much it will cost and what financial aid options are open to me......I may be a student again soon!
